With the release of Episode 5 Act 1 just around the corner, Riot Games is taking fans underwater with Pearl, the game's eighth map.

Riot Games teased the Pearl map with a brief unveiling clip. Even though it was short, it gave fans a decent sense of the map's atmosphere and graphic style. In the background, there were also occasional tidbits of character dialogue. The trailer can be found embedded below.

Pearl was a large city in Omega Earth's Portugal that was on the verge of being destroyed due to climate change, according to lore. However, utilising Radianite-tech (a magical element in Valorant), Kingdom Corp, a firm was able to maintain the place, and it was subsequently repurposed into a war field.

“Pearl demands committed engagements, without the rotation and mobility support of doors, ascenders, or teleporters. What you get is something deceptively simple, strategically speaking. That said, it still has some twists and all the depth you’d expect from a Valorant map," said, Joe Lansford, Valorant’s Level Designer. "Pearl demands committed engagements, without the rotation and mobility support of doors, ascenders, or teleporters. This implies that, unlike prior maps such as Breeze, Icebox, and Fracture, Pearl will be very straightforward to explore, as there will be no teleporters, trap doors, or ascenders for players to manoeuvre around.

The new map Pearl drops shortly in Valorant via an OTA update on June 22. However, it's worth noting that the arrival of Pearl means the exit of map Split from the current maps pool. More can be read about it in the official blog post here
