Team Vitality partners with Garmin
After Astralis, Garmin is extending its esports penetration partnering with Team Vitality.
Team Vitality, the France-based sports organisation has announced a partnership with watchmaker Garmin.
Team Vitality will receive Instinct® Esports Edition watches from the American manufacturer as a part of the collaboration. Both the companies will also come together to research and develop new esports products for Garmin.
Nicolas Maurer, CEO of Team Vitality spoke on the collaboration: “Everyone has their own speciality. Garmin is a technological brand with talented research and development teams. For our part, our knowledge stems from practice. We have experienced professional players who have very specific and different expectations, depending on the title.”
The Instinct® Esports Edition that will be provided to Team Vitality by the watch manufacturer offers a dedicated function for biometric data analysis during games and is based on Garmin's health and sports technologies. The watch shows the game timer and keeps an active record of a player's heart rate and stress level.
However, Team Vitality is yet to test those watches from Garmin personally but CEO Maurer believes that the watches will be beneficial for players from League of Legends and CS:GO.
Maurer added: “We can imagine that in games like Counter-Strike or League of Legends, the watch can be used in key moments of the game and provide additional information, which would allow players to make the right decisions at the right time.
“It is important to remember that esports is based on two essential principles: decision-making and mechanical execution. These choices are made in record time and every second counts. This is where the watch will have a role to play.”
