PayTM First Games is the Gaming wing of PayTM and a fantasy gaming platform for various sports such as cricket, football, basketball and Kabaddi. The platform had recently acquired the cricket icon, Sachin Tendulkar, as its brand ambassador and is set to invest Rs. 300 crore in the market of fantasy sports and online gaming in the financial year 2020-21.

The Noida-based company has promised to be a helping hand for Indian developers with technology solutions and give them their own platform to promote games. With the help of the funds, PayTM First Games will hold multiple events throughout the country and hackathons to identify young developers in India and curate their games.

In August, PM Narendra Modi said, “India should tap the huge potential in digital gaming arena by developing games inspired by its culture and folk tales”.

PayTM First Games are aboard the same vision, the organisation claimed that it would promote games focused on Indian culture and folk tales to the digital gaming sector in the country.

Being a homegrown company we want to play our part in enabling India's gaming ecosystem. Our goal is to support over 200 talented developers, who may not have access to resources comparable to that of big studios,” said Sudhanshu Gupta, COO Paytm First Games, in a mailed statement.

"The company will provide a launchpad to indigenous developers and design studios to promote their innovative games focused on Indian culture and folk tales. This provides an opportunity to studios for building exciting games, which will promote gamified learning on rich Indian heritage, mythology and sporting history," Paytm added.

The announcement comes few weeks after the main app Paytm and its gaming wing Paytm First Games was removed by Google from the Play Store over violating policies but it was restored shortly. However, more details about the latter rather than the initial announcement are awaited.
